Improving Your Wi-Fi and 5G Signal

Optimizing Wi-Fi and 5G signals ensures reliable performance for industrial and enterprise applications.

Steps

1. Optimize Router Placement

  • Place the router in a central, elevated location, away from walls, metal objects, and electronics (e.g., microwaves).

  • For 5G, position it near a window or in an area with strong cellular reception.
The GO5 uses four cellular antennas (ANT0–ANT3) for optimal 5G NR SA/NSA connectivity.

  • Maintain a 20 cm distance between the antennas and people to comply with FCC/IC radiation exposure limits.

2. Select the Best Wi-Fi Band and Channel

  • Go to Interface > Wireless > Wireless Settings:

    • Use 5 GHz (up to 867 Mbps) for high-speed tasks near the router.

    • Use 2.4 GHz (up to 300 Mbps) for better coverage over longer distances.

  • Under Advanced Settings, select non-overlapping channels:

    • 2.4 GHz: Channels 1, 6, or 11

    • 5 GHz: Set to Auto for best performance

Tips

  • Reboot the router (under System > Reboot) periodically to refresh connections.

  • Monitor signal strength via Status > Overview or RCMS for real-time diagnostics.
